How much money is this going to cost?

First of all you should feel particularly proud that you are about to save your dog's life.

Although there are cheaper ways of getting a dog, we are talking about rescuing a dog from death-row. We work only with shelters that are the final destination for dogs that will be eliminated in the next few days. These high-kill shelters need to make room for their overload of new arrivals and need to put to sleep hundreds of highly adoptable puppies every week.

It is very sad, but you CAN make a difference: your dog might be saved if we act quickly!

All in all to rescue a dog costs approximately $400 - the end result is of course priceless!

This includes:

- Getting your dog from the Animal Control centers in states such as New York, Georgia, Louisiana, The Carolinas, Texas, Florida or California.

- Issue of the health certificate. Most states will not allow a dog to leave until it has a health certificate, basic shots and most times is spayed or neutered. This vetting fee is also included in the cost of the dog. It is in your best interest to adopt a dog that has recently been seen by a vet, especially if you already have dogs - so no transmittable disease will be introduced to your home.

-Then we will have to get the dog to your home. Although that cost obviously depends on how far away you are from the dog, with a combination of transport volunteers and professional pet transporters we can usually manage to include the total cost of transport in the price of the dog. Should there be an additional fee because of distance or location we will let you know, and it would usually be a small amount.

Step-by-step procedures:

We work with PayPal - because it is fast and secure and many people have PayPal accounts.

You will have to pay $200 into our PayPal account so we can bail the dog out of Animal Control and have it seen by a vet, while we figure out the transport specifics. When we have successfully rescued the dog from the shelter we will send you an e-mail and line up the transport specifics with you and then we will be able to give you a more accurate figure for the rest of the balance due. Note please all transports have to be prepaid since otherwise the transporter may refuse your pet. In some instances you may be able to split the cost with another dog if they happen to go in your direction as well but we cannot guarantee this will be available.

Once you have your dog we would LOVE to receive pictures or video of you and your new pal to be able to share it with our readers and put you on our heroes wall of fame.

Please note: We will NOT offer refunds if we pulled a dog for you and you had second thoughts!

This is a very serious decision and even though time is of the essence we don’t want you to rush into adding a family member just because you feel sorry for the dog. But please understand that once the ball is rolling and we have pulled the dog out of the shelter, if you are not willing to receive the dog he/she will have to be boarded and hopefully we will be able to find a replacement home in time. If you would like to help a dog, but cannot adopt at this time a donation may give the dog more time to find a home. Animal control officers are human beings and if there is even the slightest chance, due to some interest or sponsorship they may give the dog an extra week.

What happens if you are not in time to pull the dog?

If we are unable to pull the dog you are in entitled to a full refund or you can chose to leave your deposit with us while we look for a similar dog for you. It is 100% your choice.

Unfortunately there IS a very real possibility that we could be unable to get to a particular dog in time. Sometimes - in the happy instances - the dog was adopted out locally or by a different rescue group. Other times we were just too late.
